"Don't Leave It All To Your Children is a show where parents can
bring their children and Visa versa. Don't miss it."
-San Francisco Cronicle
Dont Leave It All to Your Children! begins previews tonight at the Actors Temple Theatre and is scheduled to run through June 28.
The 90-minute musical revue is an adaptation of Senior Class, both written and directed by Saul Ilson.
The 76-year-old Rossi is part of an ensemble cast of four that includes Barbara Minkus (Picon Pie), Marcia Rodd (The Last of the Red Hot Lovers) and Ronnie Schell (Gomer Pyle). Rossi and Schell have done Senior Class at the Annenberg Theater in Palm Springs, Calif., for the past four years.
The producers saw Senior Class and liked it but they didnt know if it was strong enough for Broadway, Rossi says. Now with the new theme and new material, it looks pretty strong.
The revue is about Baby Boomers becoming seniors. There are a series of vignettes about getting older and about life, Rossi explains.
Rossi, a native New Yorker who grew up in Southern California, has performed in every medium but a Broadway play. Dont Leave It All to Your Children! gets him close. At 339 W. 47th St., the Actors Temple is about a block off the Great White Way.
Best known as the straight man of a comedy team with Marty Allen, Rossi says he has always been too busy to pursue the New York stage.
When Marty and I were hot we could have been on Broadway any time we wanted, but we didnt take advantage of it, he says. For some reason our management never thought it was a good career move.
Allen & Rossi, who were brought together by Nat King Cole in 1957, made more than 700 appearances on television (44 on The Ed Sullivan Show), made 16 comedy albums and appeared in the spy spoof film The Last of the Secret Agents before they split in 1969. They reunited briefly twice.
We agreed to disagree, Rossi says. You know, when youre married you can make up by going to bed with your wife. But its hard to go to bed with Marty, although we had to do it a couple of times just kidding, Marty. It was only once.
Rossi was discovered by Mae West in 1953.
He was a 20-year-old student playing the lead in The Student Prince at the Civic Light Opera Company in Los Angeles. West caught the performance and hired him for her show, which ended up at the Sahara in Las Vegas.
After graduating from Loyola University, he entered the Air Force. While stationed near San Francisco, he became friends with legendary radio announcer Don Sherwood and frequently appeared on his radio and television shows. Rossi, who never seems to slow down, says if the show catches on and hes in New York for a while he will produce a burlesque show and probably perform some stand-up comedy.
I dont feel any older than I did 20 years ago, he says. A lot of women take me for like 50 and 55 although last night a girl took me for a hundred.

Steve Rossi turns 73 [Las Vegas Sun - May 27th 2005
Entertainer Steve Rossi celebrated his 73rd birthday Wednesday at
Manetti's, the Plaza restaurant owned by actor Larry Manetti (also a Plaza
executive). Among guests who dropped by to help Rossi celebrate were
impersonator Gordie Brown, who performs at the Golden Nugget, and magician
Lance Burton, who is with the Monte Carlo. Before he became an
impressionist, Brown was a political cartoonist in Ottawa, Canada. He
presented Rossi with a cartoon of the singer/comedian and his former
partner, comedian Marty Allen. Manetti, best known for his co-starring
role with Tom Selleck in "Magnum P.I.," also attended the
affair.

Pahrump will soon find itself on the big screen once again when the town
appears as a backdrop in a new film expected to be released late next
year.
The horror movie is called "Death Ranch" and if everything goes
well, the film will be released Oct. 31, 2005.
"What we really look for in a lot of cases is an area that doesn't
have a lot of man made things," co-producer Michael Tessiero said.
He, along with the other co-producer Steve Rossi, met in Pahrump last week
to talk with KPVM Channel 41 and go over film ideas. According to
Tessiero, there will be a lot of principle photography shot out on Highway
52 and areas of Pahrump, while the rest will be shot at Valcom Studios in
Las Vegas.
"The places are all in place," Tessiero said. They are still
waiting on permits. Tessiero will play the leading male role in the film
and Glenda Tangen will play the leading female role. Rossi will also have
an acting role in the film.
"When you're an actor, you play as many parts as you can,"
Rossi said. He will be playing a sheriff, while Tessiero will have two
roles in the film.
Tessiero has been in a number of films as unaccredited roles, as well as
numerous commercials. He's looking forward to putting the film together.
"It's going to be a terrific movie. It's going to be a really gory
horror film," Tessiero said.
Tessiero and Rossi both came from New York originally. Rossi has lived in
Las Vegas for 50 years, while Tessiero has only been in the desert for
seven. Both men have been best friends for the span of Tessiero's
residency.
Rossi has been in the acting business since he was 6 years old and is
most recognized for his role in the comedic duo "Allen and Rossi"
with Marty Allen. Re-runs can be caught on PBS. Rossi will also have guest
roles in the Fox series "Casino," a reality-based show about the
Golden Nugget Casino in Las Vegas. Rossi's transition from comedy to
horror wasn't awkward. "Most of our comedy was horrific," he
cracked.
Tessiero is in awe of Rossi's presence. To put in words what working with
Rossi has been like, Tessiero can barely find the words. "He's
unbelievable," Tessiero said.
Tessiero is solely financing the horror flick because he has that much
faith in what will be the final product. Asking Rossi, his best friend, to
be a part of the film was never a question. "It's just kind of a
natural thing," he said.
Filming will start around the beginning of October in Las Vegas. Tessiero
and Rossi don't see filming in Pahrump starting until the first week of
November. The filming process should take roughly six weeks, according to
both men.

musical-comedy-variety-talk show - KSFN 1140 . "The Steve Rossi Show,"
which orginates live from Las Vegas, airs Sunday nights from 9 - 11
p.m.(Eastern Time)
"My plan is for this program to be Las Vegas' connection to the rest
of the world," Rossi Says. "It's only fitting since it's the
world capital for food, hotels, enetertainment, conventions and golf. Each
week celebrity residents who live in the area and those passing through

Rossi and his sidekick Marty Allen were the act that were the act that
followed The Beatles' first appearance on American TV on February 9, 1964
on The Ed Sullivan Show. Sullivan liked the combination so well that Allen
and Rossi were invited back to follow The Beatles twice more on the show.
Steve Rossi keeps busy. Most recently he was cast in a small part in a
movie being filmed near Las Vegas, "The Mexican," starring Julia
Roberts, Brad Pitt, Gene Hackman and James Gandolfini of The

1999, Allen and Rossi were inducted into the "Legends Hall of Fame"
Museum at the Tropicana Hotel with their own memorabilia wall.

Real Gone Girls, The (1970)
Screen: Search for Girls:Robert Walker Stars in 'Man From O.R.G.Y.'
By ROGER GREENSPUN
Published: April 4, 1970
O.R.G.Y. stands for Organization for the Rational Guidance of Youth, but
otherwise it need, not concern you. It exists only so its director (Robert
Walker) can give up his research into the erotic responses of working
girls in order to track down three beautiful prostitutes who are to share
a $15-million inheritance. Each heiress can be identified only by the
image of a grinning gopher branded on her bottom, and to pursue his quest,
Robert Walker must uncover a lot of girls. And that is what "The Man
From O. R. G. Y.", which opened yesterday at the Forum, is all about.
A certain charming innocence pertains to all the low-level vulgarity, as
it does to the plump, often pretty girls themselves with their piled-up
hairdo's, their freighted eyelids, and their brave little attempts to say
their lines.
Maybe in two cases out of every three they are fun to look at, and
collectively they suggest a soft solidity to shore against the flimsiness
of the film's sets, which, like wallpaper without walls, shake and rustle
at each passing step.
Because "The Man From O.R.G.Y." is a dirty movie that means to
be a spoof of dirty movies, it also features a lot of comedy, none of
which is funny, but much of which is energetic enough somehow to engage
the attention if not the interest. To an extent, this is remarkable,
because the film seems determined to repeat each of its comic ideas, no
matter how awful, at least three times.
It more or less has to just to fit in the acts. Not only has it a
black-white male comedy team (White and Rossi; White's black), but also a
female impersonator (his name is Lynn Carter, and he does Hermione
Gingold, Phyllis Diller, Marlene Dietrich, and of course, Bette Davis), a
real-female comedienne (Louisa Moritz), and a large cast of minor
characters every one of whom has a routine. By the time each man has shown
his stuff and each girl has had a chance to strip a little, "The Man
From O.R.G.Y." resembles not so much a movie as a last bastion of
individualist free enterprise against the encroaching coltivism of our
society.
